The founding principals of Numad partner with non-profit organizations because we wish to continue to be active participants in society. We are driven by a desire to work for social good in our homes, communities and alongside organizations across the world.

We know this perspective has evolved for us over time, and is the direct result of not just our education and travel, but most of all because of our relationships with our families and mentors who exemplify this way of living… this determination for a just society. A Board of Advisors was formed in 2012 to continue to strengthen the guidance, mentorship and relationships that continue to challenge and direct us as individuals and as a firm, and to help us to offer the services of the firm to non-profit organizations. In doing so, together, we will make a positive impact in society, particularly where traditional efforts have not succeeded.

Carl J. Artman

Former Assistant Secretary, United States Department of the Interior for Indian Affairs

Carl J. Artman serves as general counsel for Rocket Gaming Systems, which has been providing linked interactive electronic gaming systems and player stations for more than 15 years. In this role, Carl directs the legal and compliance affairs of the company. In addition, he advises management on legal issues relative to corporate and tribal government affairs.

He is currently a professor at the Arizona State University College of Law and most recently served as an attorney and shareholder with Godfrey and Kahn SC in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He has an extensive background in Indian gaming, having served with the United States Department of the Interior as Assistant Secretary for Indian Affairs under President George W. Bush. Carl has also served as chief legal counsel for the Oneida Tribe of Indians of Wisconsin.

A graduate of the University of Denver College of Law and Washington University School of Law, Carl also holds a master's degree in business administration from the University of Wisconsin School of Business as well as a bachelor's degree from Columbia College.

Kirsten Grønbjerg PhD

Efroymson Chair in Philanthropy, Center on Philanthropy, Indiana University

Kirsten Grønbjerg PhD holds the Efroymson Chair in Philanthropy at the Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University and is professor of public and environmental affairs at Indiana University, Bloomington, where she also serves as chair of the Governance and Management Faculty Group. In addition, she is professor of philanthropic studies at the Indiana University Center on Philanthropy and adjunct professor of sociology at Indiana University, Bloomington.

She has held faculty appointments at Loyola University Chicago (where she also served as chair of the Department of Sociology-Anthropology), the State University of New York at Stony Brook, and Hofstra University. She has also served as a faculty associate of the Chapin Hall Center for Children at the University of Chicago. A native of Denmark, she earned an undergraduate degree in sociology at Pitzer College in Claremont, California, as well as a master of arts and a PhD degree in sociology at the University of Chicago.

Kirsten's work examines the scope and community dimensions of the Indiana nonprofit sector. Other major areas of research focus on the American welfare system, nonprofit funding relations, and nonprofit data sources.

Edward J. Henkhaus

Retired Chief Financial Officer, St. Ambrose University

Edward J. Henkhaus was born in Wood River, Illinois. He moved to Davenport, Iowa, in 1960 to attend St. Ambrose College. He earned his accounting degree in 1964 and returned to St. Ambrose in 1979 as the Chief Financial Officer. He spent 30 years in this leadership role. During his tenure, he was essential in increasing the endowment from zero to over $80 million. He took pride in his work and was able to have an operating surplus every year throughout his career. He was integral in tripling the size of the university campus by acquiring adjacent properties and replacing them with facilities essential to students, staff, and faculty. Ed served on boards as a finance committee member of the Kahl Home and Assumption High School. His philanthropic interests include St. Ambrose University, the Academy for the Study of Saint Ambrose of Milan, Assumption High School, and the Kahl Home.

He and his late wife, Lynne, were married for 45 years. They have three children, John, Paul, and Anne, and nine grandchildren. Ed's interests include golfing, traveling, playing cards, and following his favorite sports teams.

Stephen A. Wilcox

Retired Partner and Senior Executive, Accenture
President, Wilcox Family Foundation

Stephen A. Wilcox is president of the Wilcox Family Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to collaborating with other nonprofits in finding solutions to the issues affecting the poor especially in the areas of health care, education and housing.

He is a retired senior executive of Accenture, LLP. He spent 28 years with Accenture, the technology and outsourcing company, where he served for several years as lead account executive for one of Accenture's largest client accounts and led a number of Accenture's efforts to develop executives capable of managing $100 million-plus accounts. He spent the majority of his time with Accenture serving the communications industry. His personal expertise is in the areas of supply chain management; information technology integration and customer care operations.

Steve earned his bachelor of arts in political science and economics from Stonehill College, a liberal arts college run by the Fathers of the Holy Cross. He earned his master of science in public management and policy analysis from Carnegie Mellon University.

He serves on several nonprofit boards and committees. He is the Chair of the Board for Catholic Charities of the East Bay (CCEB), serves on the advancement committee of Red Cloud Indian School located in Pine Ridge, South Dakota operated by the Society of Jesus, on the Andrew Carnegie Society Board at Carnegie Mellon University, and is a board member of the Diablo Foundation.

Today, he is also a director on the board of Emergency Management Services International (EMSI). EMSI specializes in training and executing personnel in emergency management procedures.

Steve is an active youth soccer referee, little league umpire and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 9206. He is an avid golfer. He and his wife Peg are long time residents of Danville, California. They have three sons: Daniel, Joseph and Thomas.
